Busy Times in P2B!

In R.E we learned about Ramadan as it links in with our ‘We Are What We Eat’ topic. We learned about fasting and watched some video clips to learn more about different things that go on during the month of Ramadan. We also learned that there is a special celebration called ‘Eid al-Fitr’ at the end of the month which marks the ‘breaking of the fasting’. People decorate their houses with lots of different decorations during this time and we made one of these special decorations in class. They are called ‘Fanoos’. It’s like a lantern!

In Maths we have been learning what it means to divide and have been practising lots at doing this in class. We also learned that we can’t always share something out equally so this means there can sometimes be items left over. We now know that the thing that is left over is called a remainder.

Big Me Day- Chalk Talk by Iona Matson (P7)

Big Me Day
In Kirkhill this week the children have been taking part in Big Me day. The children donated £1 and were allowed to come to school dressed as what they want to be when they grow up. The school raised £160 for ActionAid which will go towards supporting some of the world’s poorest children. The money will help the children get a better education and hopefully a future career.
The best costumes were picked out for a picture that will be shown on the office TV.
The majority of the children came dressed up as footballers, doctors, policemen, builders, vets, gymnasts, dancers, singers and YouTubers.

Carly McIntosh in P7 said “I enjoyed dressing up as a dancer and I liked that it was for a good cause.”
It sounds like everyone had a great day for a great cause. Well done!
