P4 have been working with Kate, a local artist whose practice is Drama. Kate has been helping the children work in groups and evaluate how well they work together to produce a variety of drama pieces.
P3 have been introduced to their new topic, Feel the Force. We did a fun art activity where we learned about the force of push and pull as well as friction and gravity. We learned that the paint would not move itself without the force of another object. We also looked at friction through a fun game of tug of war.
Last week, P4 worked hard to plan and film a short message about how littering can affect animals. The film has been submitted to the SSPCA as part of an anti-littering campaign they are running. The children are all very proud of the film. This is a screenshot from the submitted film.
P3/4’s mini topic for term 4 is ‘The Senses’. We have been enjoying learning about the amazing features of our bodies and how fortunate we are to have our senses! We started our topic with a ‘Senses Challenge’ where we had to go around each station and complete the challenge using that sense. P3/4 particularly enjoyed the taste test!
After hearing all about Stuart Reid’s exciting and funny GORGEOUS GEORGE book series in a special assembly, P4 were lucky enough to have Stuart Reid in the classroom helping them solve creative writing problems like starting a story in an entertaining way that hooks the reader, creating and describing memorable characters and setting, and using their own experiences as starting points for stories. The children had great fun and learned a lot of skills we will use to write our own Fantasy books in a few weeks.
We worked together to find out all about our bodies and how they work. The P5/6 children were or tutors and helped us with our activities.
The P6/7 classes worked very hard on their last design unit. The brief was to use bright colours to design a poster for a fairground coming to Kinkorth. I think you will agree that these make a bright and eye catching display!
Pupils and staff were given the opportunity to fill a heart with what made them feel loved. Each person chose what to write or draw and the type of media they wanted to use to convey what was in their heart. I do hope that you get the chance to see our stunning display…Watch out for the next installment!
